ABOUT THE ARTIST

Rianne Aarts, born in January 1991, is a contemporary fiber artist and the founder of the renowned studio Teddy and Wool. From a very young age, she has been guided by an innate need to create, shaping beauty through texture, light, and form. Her connection to textile art began while studying at Art Academy Minerva, where she discovered the expressive power of fiber by crafting small macramé pieces in her spare time.

Although her path first led her to study Law at the University of Groningen, where she graduated in 2016, her heart remained with art and design. Following her true calling, she established Teddy and Wool, a high-end fiber art studio that now serves collectors, interior designers, and international brands.

Over the years, Rianne has created custom fiber artworks for private clients and world-renowned names including Google, Starbucks, Hilton Hotels, and Majé Paris. Each piece she creates transforms natural fibers into sculptural compositions that unite contemporary design with timeless craftsmanship.

Rianne lives in the Netherlands with her husband Thomas and their three sons Jonathan, Thom, and Stan, who inspire her daily with their imagination and joy. She feels deeply grateful to live a life surrounded by creativity, family, and the art of making.

About Her Work

Rianne’s art explores the space between simplicity and emotion, weaving together geometry, texture, and calm. Her hand-knotted wall sculptures combine bohemian purity with refined elegance.

Each piece is made entirely by hand using natural fibers such as handspun wool and 100% cotton. The result is a rich interplay of movement, depth, and light. Some artworks embrace the quiet beauty of undyed natural tones, while others are hand-dyed in subtle color gradients inspired by earth, stone, and sky.

Her works have been commissioned for private collections, luxury interiors, and international spaces, bringing warmth and a sense of tranquility wherever they are placed. Every thread carries intention, reflecting Rianne’s belief in the beauty of honest materials and the power of the human hand.
